A Study of the Hummingbird Moth
It's easy to see why this little moth is called the hummingbird moth, it hovers like a small hummingbird sipping nectar from flowers through a long feeding tube. The clearwing moth hovers briefly, sipping for only a few seconds before darting off to a new flower. Green body "fur" and burgundy wing scales also add to the similarity of the small ruby throated hummingbird.
This one is enjoying the thistle blooms.
